The iPad is a PC
“PC” is an acronym that stands for Personal Computer:
- The word personal is an adjective that means “intended for use by one person”.
- The word computer is a noun that means “an electronic device designed to accept data, perform prescribed mathematical and logical operations at high speed, and display the results of these operations”.
Based on those definitions I fail to see why it’s difficult to understand how the iPad is anything but a PC.
I wholeheartedly disagree with AMD’s Patrick Moorhead’s article on Tech.pinions.
I’m not the only one. Interestingly, Moorhead wrote that article on Dec. 6th, 2011. On Feb. 3rd, 2012 Ben Bajarin (also writing for Tech.pinions) wrote this article and said in the first paragraph:
To clarify, we believe and classify the tablet as a PC. We simply view it as a form factor within the PC landscape.
Exactly. The iPad is a personal computer wrapped in it’s own form factor. Just like a laptop, desktop and an iPhone. All are different forms of personal computers.
